Preschool Puppy Training
SGGR begins working with all of our puppies at 3 days old, performing minor stress-inducing exercises called Early Neurological Stimulation. ENS is fantastic for puppies' health, intelligence, and ability to handle stressful situations with ease throughout their lives. You can read more about ENS on our "Add'l Info" page.
Unique to SGGR's program, we begin 1-on-1 obedience training with all individual puppies from each litter at 4 weeks of age. We have a trainer on staff that works with them 5 days a week for 15 minutes per day, as well as our entire family assisting with follow through. We have implemented a combination of techniques, including Jane Killion's Puppy Culture methods, as well as gentle, positive training practices that we've developed over many years.
Some of the training we do with the puppies includes working through the developmental and fear periods; enrichment activities including puzzles, games and problem solving; safe, early socialization; emotional resiliency exercises; anti-aggression protocols (ie: resource guarding); and bomb-proofing puppies.
As the breeder, SGGR lays the foundation for emotional stability and learning. Then, the new owner can follow through with the necessary continued training and socialization. By the time you bring home your 8 week old SGGR puppy, continuing education will be a snap!

When you leave your puppy here with us at SGGR, we provide intensive, one-on-one training. We use humane training methods based on positive motivation.

*We can only schedule 1-2 pups from each litter for training due to time constraints.
Training is customized for each dog using a blend of these positive learning and reinforcement techniques with methods that we have developed from years of experience.
Pricing includes love & attention, play time with family members (2 & 4-legged), board, food, supplements, flea/tick meds, and any age-appropriate vaccinations required.

Socialization and enrichment exercises expose the puppies to as many different situations, locations and new faces as possible - and is an integral part of our training program. They are comfortable with bathing, brushing, ear cleaning, handling of the entire body, and more. They will have a firm foundation of obedience commands and be able to display all the proper manners every new pup should have. 10 obedience commands. 1 Handover training session and 1 phone consult after handover.
